How UAE Family Visa Costs are Calculated

A step-by-step breakdown of every official fee required to sponsor your family in the UAE.

1

Sponsor File & Entry Permit

The sponsor opens an immigration file and applies for an Entry Permit. If the family is inside the UAE, a Change of Status is issued without leaving the country.

2

Medical Fitness & Emirates ID

Adult applicants undergo blood and chest X-ray screening at authorized DHA or EHS health centers. Simultaneously, Emirates ID biometrics are submitted.

3

Insurance & Digital Stamping

Health insurance certificate is issued, and the residency visa is stamped digitally on your Emirates ID and UAE Pass with full 2-year validity.

Frequently Asked Questions about UAE Visa Costs

What is the minimum salary required to sponsor a family in the UAE in 2026?

The general requirement to sponsor a spouse and children is a minimum monthly salary of AED 4,000, or AED 3,000 plus company-provided accommodation. Sponsors must provide an attested tenancy contract (Ejari in Dubai) and an official salary certificate or certified labour contract.

Is health insurance legally mandatory for family visa issuance?

Yes. In the Emirate of Dubai (DHA regulations) and Abu Dhabi (DOH regulations), an approved health insurance policy is strictly required before the digital residency visa can be stamped. The Essential Benefits Plan (EBP) starts at approximately AED 750 to AED 900 per dependent per year.

What is the fee difference between applying inside vs outside the UAE?

If your family is already inside the UAE on a visit visa or tourist visa, you must pay a Change of Status fee of approximately AED 670 in Dubai or AED 700 in the Northern Emirates. If they are outside the country, the entry permit costs around AED 400 without the change of status charge.

Do children under 18 need to take the medical fitness test?

No. Children under the age of 18 are completely exempt from the medical fitness examination (blood test and chest X-ray). However, dependent sons over 18 (up to age 25 if studying) must undergo the medical fitness test.
